“She looketh well to the ways of her household…”
Proverbs 31 is the last words of a concerned and loving Mom to her teen age son.She knew that a wife will make or break her husband and wanted this well related to her son. His dad and she had made their path muddy with sin along the way and she hoped her son could avoid the pitfalls with a bit of wisdom.”Lemuel” seems to be a tender name that Bathsheba gave to her son Solomon. This verse ends with ” she eateth not the bread of idleness”. Success is usually found buried somewhere in the field of labour . Diligence accompanied by prayer and reliance on the Lord Jesus are great ingredients for a good batch of prosperity. Seek the Lord in His Word .He loves to bless His children… like you do. Pastor Warren
Wine is a Mocker…
How different the season is for a Christian than for one addicted to the world and it’s ways. How much alcohol plays a part in festivities very much depends on the person, but it is becoming more common even among Christians. Proverbs 20 says those who are deceived by the concept of “responsible drinking ” and ” loosen up a bit” are not wise. To be wise is simply to be far sighted. The injunction given in Ephesians 5 is that we ought not to be drunk with wine, but filled with the Spirit. To read this right as a parallel comparison, the same effects that wine promises, ie happiness, peace, laughter,a lighter mood, love, joy… , are part of what the Spirit brings when we ask Him into our lives by repentance and faith ( Galatians 5:22-23), without the ill after-effects of the alcohol. I am thankful that alcohol has no place in our home.It is a part of the good Christian heritage we have, Stay true, pray through. Have a Blessed Christmas time, Pastor Warren J
“To give subtility to the simple…”
This verse in Proverbs 1:4 goes on to offer knowledge and discretion to the youth. The Word of God is an amazing tool that the Holy Spirit uses to quiet the carnal nature and inspire within us a passion for Jesus Christ and His will. By nature we are all lost and even physically , totally reliant on God for our sustaining. We live on a tiny planet in the middle of an hauntingly massive and threatening space , traveling at 10,000 mph through the unknown , and have been doing that since Creation – about 6000 years. We are warmed by an atomic ball of energy ( the sun) that is around 93,000,000 miles away and that is our sole source of life , apart from God. Feel small and helpless yet? Look up. Look up. God has a purpose for you today and has even promised wisdom for the day ( James 1:5) – just as if I was really wise!! Have a blessed day, Bro Warren J
