Shepherds came

December 22nd, 2013|

It must have ben Mary who related this story to Luke the physician, Paul’s later companion in ministry. It must have made a distinct impression since thirteen verses are given to detail thier visit. This evening we will visit the stable where they are and get a glimpse of the importance of their place in the divine narrative.I will continue later with a few points, but consider this one first: God used these godly, humble men to encourage His favoured couple. I wonder if Mary and Joseph received it well at the time. It appears that they “wondered” and “pondered” , but did not rejoice with them. Does status sometimes influence our response to God’s messengers? If so, we miss out on much blessing. James 2:5

And it came to pass…Luke 2:1

December 22nd, 2013|

No matter what is determined of God, it comes to pass. His laws stand ( Matthew 5:18), His Word lasts (Psalm 12:6,7), His promises endure (II Corinthians 1:20) . Politics did not interfere- quite otherwise, in fact-, poverty did not hinder, Herod’s pride and threatenings did not deter it. These words are a staement that God’s timetable is still on and doing well. Are you faltering, discouraged, or depressed? It is only because you are looking at your feet. Look up, and see God at work. Ask Him to use you and watch Him send along people and opportunities to encourage and motivate you. You can be a blessing and be blessed. Brother Warren

Inconvenience :can it be good?

December 15th, 2013|

” And it came to pass in those days…” Luke 2. This story is an account of Jesus birth and the events that surrounded it.Go ahead and count the inconveniences. 1. Taxes 2. Travel- 80 miles ( no heated cars) 3.Traffic – no motel 4. Timing-Mary is extremely uncomfortable and anxious, being full term with her unborn baby. 6. Troopers- the unknown troop of shepherds come in. 7. Trouble – Herod is jealous ( Matthew 2) …and we celebrate. Never despise hard times. It is in those that great character is built and the best stories for all time are fabricated. Rejoice, a Saviour was born !
