It must have ben Mary who related this story to Luke the physician, Paul’s later companion in ministry. It must have made a distinct impression since thirteen verses are given to detail thier visit. This evening we will visit the stable where they are and get a glimpse of the importance of their place in the divine narrative.I will continue later with a few points, but consider this one first: God used these godly, humble men to encourage His favoured couple. I wonder if Mary and Joseph received it well at the time. It appears that they “wondered” and “pondered” , but did not rejoice with them. Does status sometimes influence our response to God’s messengers? If so, we miss out on much blessing. James 2:5
