Nehemiah 4:1 Trials along the way

June 24th, 2015|

Along the pathway to heaven there will be times that you wonder if God is trying to stop you in the way that you are going or if it is simply an hurdle that you are supposed to challenge and go over.
Proverbs 4:26 reads :
“Ponder the path of thy feet and let all thy ways be established.”
Balaam was resisting God ( Numbers 22)and Paul was “kicking against the pricks..” ( Acts 9:5) , while David in the wilderness was being perfected ( Psalm 42) and the giants in Canaan were to be challenged and overcome ( Numbers 14:7-9).
“Through faith we understand” by our reading the Word of God and trusting the Spirit’s guiding mind. – I Cor . 2:13, Romans 8:26.

“Faith without works is dead”

June 10th, 2015|

We have long preached the message of salvation by faith alone, without works- Ephesians 2:8,9… so long that our churches are full of Christians who do not care to be in working for the Lord at all.” Must I be carried to the skies on flow’ry beds of ease? while other fought to win the prize and sailed through bloody seas ? James asks us to prove our true faith’s condition by our works. To whom have I shown Christ by my life today?

A just man falleth… but riseth up again Prov 24:16

May 19th, 2015|

Why does he fall? Jude ends his epistle-v 24- ,”Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling…” . To compound the problem, it is stated that
he falls seven times.Just three suggestions why we fall:
1. We did not watch our feet on the path. We talk, act and live carelessly and are not “sober and vigilant”(I Peter 5:8)
2. We hurry and have little mind for important details . “Ye have need of patience..” ( Hebrews 10:36). In the old tale of knights and
kings, the kingdom was lost ” all for the want of an horse shoe nail”.
3. We are not “looking unto Jesus” ( Hebrews 12:2), but rather looking unto our best interests, and so lose God’s blessings on our lives.
The good news is that a just man gets up,finds forgiveness , learns a lesson and is better for the fall because he has a warning imprinted on his heart of another temptation to be on guard against.
